Opinions vary almost as widely with FFT as they do with FF8. A lot of this has to do with FFT's use of the Job System, as well as the fact that FFT has a remarkably horrible translation which does nothing to ease comprehension of its Byzantine storyline. Most AGFFers believe that FFT is superior to most console RPGs due to its melding of the Job System with a Tactics-Ogre-like battle motif. Those AGFFers who can understand the story claim that it is also superior. Other AGFFers think that FFT is incomprehensible, overcomplicated, and simply not worth playing

FFX is generally considered to be fair recompense for the embarrassment of FF9. Though not thought by most AGFFers to be as good as FF7 or 8, it is still much better than any of the other FFs. The storyline is second only to that of FF7, and the characterization is arguably second only to that of FF8. The gameplay is also quite good, with the addition of a replacement to Active Time Battle which allows players to see the affect of their actions on initiative. This replacement quite possibly the only innovation in the FF series that is universally liked, which makes it all the more puzzling that Square seems to be going back to ATB in its future games. FFX also allows the changing of party members during battle, another much-liked innovation

FFMQ is a curious game. It was created by Square of Japan as an RPG that would appeal to mouth-breathing Americans (like FF4 Easytype). It is much easier than just about any other console RPG (the final boss can be killed with a strong cure spell!), and the story and characterization are roughly on FF4/5 level. Even so, most AGFFers (assuming that they're being intellectually honest with themselves) agree that FFMQ is a fun diversion when one is in the mood to play something relaxing and undemanding. Unlike the other FF games, monsters can be seen outside of battle, allowing players to avoid them, and the overworld map is extremely simplified. FFMQ also contains puzzles normally seen in games like Zelda: A Link to the Past. These things make FFMQ "different," if nothing else. (It should be noted that after most American gamers rejected it, it was released in Japan as Final Fantasy USA. Apparently, they wanted to blame this game on us.)
