one hundred things

· my full name is bernadette lourdes domingo
· i was named after st. bernadette of the town lourdes in france by my grandma, in the hopes that i would be a good kid
· i don't think that her efforts worked too well ;P
· it's actually surprising that i even have a middle name at all, seeing how most filipino moms give their maiden names to their kids
· but me mam's fully canadianised
· and i digress. it's something i'm good at
· i was born in toronto
· and i've lived in the same house/room my entire life
· except for when i was in the fifth grade
· that was the year that i lived in florida
· i still talk to a few friends from there
· but it got too expensive to keep calling
· that's the real reason why i started my blog
· i like to do things in long intervals of time
· which i'll get to later on
· i like to travel
· mainly to see guys in skinsuits skate around a rink a number of times
· as much as i like ass, i also like the sport of short track itself
· actually, i like sports in general
· so much so that i could play at the university varsity level
· which i did last year for rugby
· but i've been told that i could also play field hockey at the collegiate level
· i don't, because one of my many great attributes is procrastination
· which i'm probably doing right now
· there are many things that i've taken up that i've done for long periods of time
· case(s) in point: piano-18 years and counting; ballet-10 years; gynmastics-10 years; baton-10 years
· i suppose i'm what you call your classic 'overachiever' though i prefer to think of it as living life to the fullest and not half-assing anything
· i swear a lot, and probably have the biggest potty mouth
· during high school field hockey games, i used to get called for it all the time
· but i've yet to be called for it at the collegiate level
· i mentioned travelling...i've been to ireland, japan, the philippines, england (for a day)
· i'm heading out to fiji after i finish university...then off to japan to teach english
· i'm going to be a teacher
· and possibly a short track ho reporter for the rest of my life
· i'm quite emotional, and have cried all 27 times i've seen angela's ashes
· i like to read...a LOT
· so i suppose that it's good that i work in a bookstore...gotta love that discount
· though i don't like v.c. andrews, james patterson, nora roberts, danielle steele, stephen king, dean koontz, and a few others because their books take up too much shelf space
· i like classical music. i have to. i'm asian.
· speaking of music, i play piano. i also play the sax, flute, tin whistle, clarinet, trumpet, violin, harmonica, and DRUMS. and if seven songs and a handful of chords count, then guitar too
· hence my persona, 'little drummer girl'
· but piano's my fave (and better) instrument i play.
· in the 11th grade, i was a MAD raver
· one of my best friends dave got me into it
· but i never got into the drug scene. i'm a little smarter than that
· i can outdrink many a guy friend
· but i have to. if you play rugby and don't drink, it's sacriligious
· i'm in a sorority
· but if you had asked me in high school if i'd ever join one, i would have laughed in your face and asked, 'do i look like a chimbo to you?'
· i like to make up words that don't exist in the dictionary
· but i HATE it when people spell things wrong on purpose
· i love candles. i think that i currently have about 37 candles in my room
· this may explain why my room smells so damn fruity
· i was born and raised roman catholic, but i find myself drawn to buddhism
· this isn't to say that i'm going against my christian roots. i just believe in the principle of tolerance
· i'm a coffee/tea/caffeine addict
· which only happened when i started university
· i'm currently in my third year at u of t, but am *techinically* in fourth year because i've gone to summer school
· i'm not a workaholic. there are just a lot of things that i want to do
· i'm the worst person to watch a horror movie with. i laugh hysterically
· same thing with roller costers. they're just FUNNY!!
· i suck at typing. i never did like that 'quick ask zoe' thing that i had to learn in high school typing/career ed.
· i'm able to do the bielmann with both my legs. that's where you basically pull your leg behind you to the damn near top of your head. it's a figure skating move
· i got up to my double axle, then quit. all i wanted to do was learn how to skate backwards
· i'm actually quite quiet when people first meet me
· though it doesn't take too long for me to feel comfortable with people
· i'm opinionated, but i'd like to think that i'm not a bitch about it
· i got up to my bronze med. for nls, but i don't think that i'm going to be upgrading anytime soon. i hate swimming regulation laps
· i'm a fan of nail polish, but only on my toes. i don't have to patience for manicures
· in the 4th grade, i wanted to be a writer
· that gave way to cartooning in the 6th grade
· i'm REALLY interested in japanese culture. i think that i may have been a samurai in a past life
· though i'm also interested in the practice of geisha too
· for grad school, i'm interested in looking at researching into filipino history. there's not enough scholarship on it, in my opinion
· my have a HUGE extended family. i'm not kidding. we constitute half the entire filipino population in the world
· needless to say, we've never had a full family reunion. we may have to clear out a small country for that to happen
· i've been told that i'm funny
· and no, no one's ever added 'looking' to the end of it (so don't be a smartass)
· but it's more sarcasm than anything else
· i don't have my full driver's license yet, and my permit's about ready to expire
· i only got it because i wanted photo id to prove that i'm as only as i am
· but i REALLY want to get a motorcycle license. that'd be kickass
· i haven't really broken bones (well, once, when i was 5, i broke my collarbone). but i've sprained many and ankle
· i HATE the nickname 'bernie' because it reminds me of weekend at bernie's, and i thought it was a STUPID movie
· i'm a simpsons fanatic. i can quote lines from the show like there's no tomorrow
· i'm a fan of piercings and tattoos. i have 15 piercings, most of which i don't wear anymore. as for tattoos...heheh
· i like those nalgene water bottles (you know, the ones that come in different colours, that are usually 1000 ml)
· i drink a LOT of water
· i'm not really into video games. i'm still working on mastering the fine art known at sega game gear
· i'm a huge believer in the merits of sushi. i've even established myself at sushi inn (which is actually quite sad)
· i like extreme sports, and like to try as many as i can. skydiving, snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, i've done those
· i'm a fan of snowboarding, but have never gone skiing
· i don't believe in doing things in a 'conventional' way
· i can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue, but just because you ask doesn't mean that i'm necessarily going to do it
· i have a good luck charm: soccer barbie from a mcdonald's happy meal. my soccer team got it in trenton when we went to a tourney in the 11th grade. we actually kicked some ass
· i didn't have it when i wrote a physics exam, and consequently didn't do that well on it. however, i've since weened myself away from it
· i'm probably one of the few people left in the wide techo world that still doesn't have a cell phone. but i don't believe in them
· i'd rather stay in my relative state of techno-peasantry, thank you very much
· i often get mistaken for being hawaiian/polynesian/malaysian than filipino
· i hate regular socks. nothing disappoints me more than having 'hanes' emblazoned in pink all over the foot of my socks
· speaking of pink, i'm not a fan of the colour. i LOVE red though
· i want to be one of those people that knows 13 languages fluently. i've only got three. but i'm teaching myself japanese
· i have a good memory for those small insignificant details
· i'm a fan of hats. i have about 23 caps, beanies, and other various hats. all of which i wear. except for the sombrero. that's just a little too much, even for me
· i once made the mistake of skateboarding using the board of one of my best friends, who happens to be almost a foot taller than i am. plus i had no shoes or socks. my toes were cut up pretty badly, but at least i got $10 out of it
· i sing in three choirs. i'm a complete choir girl
· i'm not much of a partier. i'm not straight-edge, but i don't really go out all that often
· if you were to ask me if i see the glass as half full or half empty, i'd go with half full most days. i'd like to think that there's hope for humankind
· i don't always believe in political correctness. what was the point of all those rights and freedoms then?
· i hate running. okay, well i hate running on cement or treadmills. i think those types of surfaces are boring
· i've had pretty much the same groups of friends since i was 4. we call ourselves the kindergarten crew
