My girl said i look vibrant today. As i hugged her i could see the red from my shirt reflecting off her face. It's pretty bright. She told me "One of the things i love about you is you pay attention to aesthetics. You're not afraid to wear interesting clothes, to stand out visually."
I didn't have the heart to tell her that that's exactly what i'm afraid of, and that what i was doing, i was only doing for an assignment.
gulp.
Overall, i've gotten so much positive feedback from this little experiment that it's definitely something i'll try to do in the future. Not just wear brighter clothes, but try to stand out more, in all different ways.

I just got back from going to pick up some cat food, and i had such trouble finding a parking space.
Must be the shirt.

Hey, someone else noticed.
She kinda doesn't count though, because she's in the same class and therefore knows what's going on.
Oh yeah, that's another one of the rules. You can't tell people ahead of time what you're doing, so that way you can record a more honest response.
She said i look 'perky'. Hm. Perky.
No one else has commented yet, but i do get the impression people are looking at me. Maybe that's just me. It makes me a little nervous, but that's definitely me.

One thing that i have noticed is that now i'm a lot more sensitive to the color red in my environment. More art students wear red than you might at first think. Two different people in my anatomy class are wearing red hats or caps today.
I'm drawing red muscles with a red pencil.
Fire lane curbs have been painted an incredibly vibrant red. And the Boston Market logo is almost entirely red.

"That's a nice shirt", she said.
"uh, Thanks", i said.
What i'm thinking is: how can i tell her that i think it's tremendously ugly and that i'm now wondering about her taste? But you know, she is kind of cute...
I shouldn't complain. Someone noticed. Not only that, but now i've gotten _twice_ as much female attention as normal. Woo!

I don't like to attract a lot of attention to myself. It's a defense mechanism, i guess. So as a result i tend to wear a lot of black. also, black goes with everything. Given that, i'm wearing red.
Right now i've got on a hideously ugly red-and-white striped shirt. Button-down. Short sleeves. Big thick inch-wide stripes. It's made of polyester, so it makes me itch. I put a red t-shirt on under it, to cover all bases and because it's cold out.
I look like i work for a struggling local chain of 1890s-themed pizzerias or one fourth of a barbershop quartet.
Oh, and i'm wearing red underwear too.

I'm a second year illustration student at CCAC and this weblog is a document of a project for color methods class. The assignment is as follows: We're to choose a color that we dislike and to wear that color for a day. And to document the experience in some way. The idea is to see if people respond to you differently, or if you feel different or interact with others differently with your new 'personality'.

This is before off-color day has officially begun, but i wanted to mention a strange color experience i had. i just ate a yellow-fleshed watermelon. i would swear that it tasted exactly the same as an ordinary watermelon. Exactly the same. Yet somehow it wasn't the same. It seemed blander, less interesting. Less dynamic, less vibrant. i think a lot of the appreciation we have for food is visual.
It was quite a surprise, though, to cut open a watermelon to reveal canary yellow flesh.
i'll put up a picture of the melon tomorrow. i'll have to check out a digital camera from school, because mine was stolen. Bastards.
