Guess what? Ah, I can't even believe this but for my AP English Lang. class we had to write a letter to an editor of some magazine or newspaper about a political issue. Of course, I hated it because it involved some creative effort, well maybe not creative, but it was an assignment, so you know what I mean. Anyways, my teacher said that if anyone got published their grade would automatically go up one letter grade. I got an A in AP English which to me was a wonderful surprise but an even greater, I think is that I'm getting published! I barely found out today. They called my house and said that they're publishing my article! I can't even believe it 'cause I thought my letter sucked. My teacher gave me a 7 out of a possible 9 on it. Haha. But anyways, the magazine is U.S. News and World Report. It hit stands this Monday! Go out and buy it and look for my article. The funny thing is that they said my article might not even be in that issue, so they said if it wasn't, then I should call them and they'll send me an issue with it in it. I find that quite odd but I won't make a fuss. I'm getting published!

Now my readers, don't think you were going to get away that easily without me mentioning Travis... it's been one week! Happy anni Jess!

12 Memories

1. Quicksand
Andy, Neil and Dougie coming out during Jason Faulkner's performance. I freaked. I could even believe they were there and I was confused why they were there.

2. The Beautiful Occupation
Neil's drums on "Happy To Hang Around." Oh, I love Neil. I clearly remember those opening notes to the first song the band played that night and telling Jess that this had been my favorite song of the week.

3. Re-Offender
Fran introducing Neil back! Woohoo! Everyone cheered.

4. Peace The Fuck Out
Dougie smiling and dancing and being the wonderful Dougie that he is. I love Dougie.

5. How Many Hearts
Fran saying, "It seems to be getting better and better everytime we come back." And somewhat thinking in the back of my head how much Travis hate LA. I guess they like LA fans, but hate everyone else in LA.

6. Paperclips
Dougie singing the second verse to "Turn." I was busy trying to get my camera to work and then I heard his voice, and everyone cheering. And I was just so excited, cause I forgot he sang the second verse so I forgot about my camera and just screamed with everyone else.

7. Somewhere Else
Andy and Dougie sitting in front of Neil, drinking beer while Fran was getting ready to do "The Humpty Dumpty Love Song." Neil was all quite, not even drinking while Andy and Dougie were talking, laughing and just relaxing. Then when Fran started, he messed up or something, I don't know what, and then he had to start the song over. Then Andy, Dougie and Neil joined in.

8. Love Will Come Through
The opening line to "All I Wanna Do Is Rock." That was my best moment at the concert.

9. Mid-Life Krysis
Andy getting on top of the amps. He was all rockish, jumping up and down and going crazy. I love Andy.

10. Happy To Hang Around
Travis leaving and then everyone screaming. I wanted to chant, "TRAVIS! TRAVIS! TRAVIS!" And I wanted to start it but I knew no one around me would even do that. *sigh* That would have been super fun. Then Fran coming back for the encore singing, unplugged "Flowers in the Window." It was so beautiful that I wanted to scream, but I waited until the end where everyone sang the last line with Fran, "Let's watch the flowers grow." That was a great moment.

11. Walking Down The Hill
Fran dedicating "Peace the Fuck Out" to all those "fuckers" in the audience who kept screaming during "Flowers in the Window." Then singing along. Everyone else was, and that was a great moment at the end where everyone said the chorus, "Peace the Fuck Out" and Jessica was confused because it sounded exactly like in the album and I was too cause I thought it was the recording but I guess not so because everyone else was chanting. Then Fran trying to explain the line, "Handbags to Dawn" from "Peace the Fuck Out" saying that it means people fighting like women with their purses, just swaying and hitting each other all silly and ridiculous. Then when explaining this, saying "Purse" with an American accent. I love Fran.

12. Some Sad Song
"Why Does it Always Rain On Me" when Fran stopped singing and let the audience sing. Oh, I loved it. And then like 5 minutes later, when Jess and I went outside, it started raining.

It stopped raining.

Travis has officially left California.

How sad. I miss them already and it hasn't even been a week.

Travis Review: Live at the Wiltern

[Fran's] heart-filled belting of the song [Flowers in the Window] was a clear demonstration of how far he and his band have come ... no matter who else in England might sell more records.

Great review.

Jess and I plan to go see Travis live in Scotland. Come on Jess, I'm serious about this. Ticket prices. It's not as expensive as I thought. Come we can get jobs! HAHAHA.

I told my mom my plan to go Glasgow with Jessica next summer and all she did was laugh.

Another reason to love Fran Healy:

Travis: Music piracy is 'brilliant'

Usually you only hear unknown bands such as Rooney and Fisher, not well established artists like Travis embrace music piracy.

Fran: Kazaa and Napster and all that stuff is a brilliant way for kids to taste the album. Usually kids hear one track which is good, then they go out and buy the album and it turns out to be shit.

I couldn't agree more.

Blue Flashing Light

I love that song. Right before we got to the Wiltern, I saw this big blue flashing light on a building, and I say, "Hey Jess, look! It's a sign."

I was on such a high after the concert. Even when I was sleeping until the moment I woke up. Even when I had to wake up to go volunteer at like 7:30 am the next day. The whole day I was on a high until later, when I got tired because I had only slept for four hours. I fell asleep at 7:30. I've never fell asleep that early in like 10 years. Even when I was in elementary school I went to bed at 10pm. That's probably why I'm so short.

Afterwards when Jessica's parents were taking me home, I felt Travis' aura in the car. It was strange. I felt like they were in between Jess and me in the backseat. Haha. I know it's strange, but I did.

Here's the wallpaper you wanted Jess. I love Fran Healy.
