PALMISTRY & THE HAND

In 1530 palmistry became forbidden because Gypsies exploited palmistry with unethical purposes - the cheating and swindling the local population. Today palmistry is still exploited by travelling showmen. Therefore it is hardly a surprise that under the influences of this kind of public entertainment the image of palmistry is merely associated with: future predictions, gypsies, fair entertainment, and the paranormal. Nevertheless, the work of modern palmistry readers should be valued on a higher level. And modern science provides at least some fundamental support for specific palmistry theories.

Palmistry is usually described as the practice of telling fortunes from the lines, marks, and patterns on the hands. Well known aspects of the palmistry encyclopedia are: the life line, heart line, head line, and simian line. And a lot of people are familiar with 'the mount of Venus'. Today Western palmistry readings and palmistry charts are usually no longer focussed on future predictions. Psychology assessment and personality readings have become an aspects of modern palmistry. And the general public is usually not aware that the skills of a good Palmistry reader are founded on
palmistry knowledge and the use of palmistry techniques and methods.
