Apple?
Steer hasn't got his new G4 iBook yet, and mine isn't back from Apple yet either. Blame holiday mail traffic.

Steer's old venerable HP desktop died and he decided on going with a Mac. The night he wanted to buy was a Saturday at about 5:00. A quick call to the nearest Apple reseller found that they closed at 5:00. Darn, but they said they'd stay open for us if we came over. It was a 10 min drive from the house so we went. The 12" iBook G4 that steer wanted wasn't in stock but should be in on Monday or Tuesday. So he ordered one and paid for it. In the meantime the store gave him a iBook as a loaner computer until his came in. How many PC stores would have done that? None that I've ever heard of, but there may be some.

The customer service from a reseller not directly from Apple was great. If there had been an actual Apple store close we'd have gone there, but I think the nearest was like 500 miles away. Even though the shipping of the laptops has been a bit slow, I was impressed.

So, if you're in Oklahoma City area I suggest Haddock Computer for your Apple needs.

iBook

This past Friday steer's computer failed. It was one of those HP Pavilions. The processor fried itelf taking the motherboard with it.

Steer took the opportunity to join the ranks of the Mac fanatics. He purchased a new 12" iBook G4. Should pick it up today or tomorrow.

Oh well...
I had finished a webpage project for our department. It contains useful info on how to complete our jobs, technical tips we all have gathered over time, and procedures we use. Now it seems corporate sure likes the work I did and wants to give access to other departments. Like sales reps, business reps, and possibly customers. WHAT?!?!!? It was never designed for that. It'll be over their head in most cases. So, the new idea was to password protect the information we don't want them getting in to. Ok, fine. That's a horrible solution but I don't get to make those decisions. I just happily reminded them that the server we host that page on is internal. Not viewable to most of the company. Oh, this didn't go over well. Now they have to find a new server to host it on. Nobody else wants to allow another department access to their server. It's a turf battle. See....never do your job too well.

WOW!!!
Something new just made the top portion of my "what I'd buy if I had lots of money" list.

Apple's 20-inch iMac

I'd love a G5, yes, but at $700 for Final Cut Pro I have no need for 64-bit processor.

Cartoons?
Who else watches Adult Swim? I rarely catch it anymore, but it's always got some good cartoons on.

Weird
Ever been driving on the interstate and you are passing people, then you pick up a group of cars getting in behind you and forming your own little convoy? It's like you form a little bond with this group as you move in sync switching lanes and passing slow tractor trailers on the road. That happened to me yesterday. Then as I exited the interstate the car following me waved at me. Like we'd become friends just driving the same road. Weird.

Hmmm?
I heard that L.A. got a lot of freezing rain and hail. It was almost like snow. They could even make snowballs with it.

Hell freezing over?

Just hang up fool
I was calling some department head in another state. I don't remember who or why I was calling now. I almost choked to death laughing. They were all out of the office or not answering the phone so it went into an IVR. The menu tree had 2 options.

1. Nobody is available, hit 1 to transfer to customer service.

or

2. To end this call. Hang up.

To end the call hang up. Classic.
